Architecture
Architecture is not just about the aesthetic, but it also about the reflection of the culture and tradition of its creators.
IRONIC
This pyramid shape ceramic is inspired by ancient Egypt. The top of the pyramid can be remove and become a small pyramid. The pyramid is hollow in side. It can be used to store liquid. I sculpt the cobra and wrap it around the pyramid to symbolize protection of the pyramid.
ICONIC
Iconic is the name of my pot that using the pinch and coil techniques. The design of pot is inspired by the greek architecture. The foot of the pot is created like a shape of the greek pillar which lifts up the pot of the surface. Moreover, the rim of the pot is cover with gold luster to pull the viewer’s attention.
MAJESTIC
This bowl is inspired by Cambodia's traditional and Architecture. The bowl uses to keep the holy water that will be used to sprinkle on people. For those who receive the water, believe that the water will give them luck. Furthermore, to make the work complete, I make a sprinkler from raffia. The sprinkler is used to sprinkle the holy water during a ceremony. For the final touch, I also use raffia on the lid, to create an interesting design and to make the work look like one.
AESTHETIC
Inspired by Connecticut state-building. The main design of this work is the gold dome which aesthetically rests on the top of the teapot and also functions as a lid. each side of the form was decorated with a relief carving of star shapes. To achieve the old stone look, different colors and consistency of glazes were poured on it- a replication of watermark on the stone structure.
MODERNISTIC
The architecture used to be more complex and well decored with fine detail on every single side of the structure but now we are focus on its function rather than its beauty and aesthetic. This work was inspired by our modern architecture-simple and clean. The teapot and the base can be separate and were decorated with Minimalism style.
ENERGETIC
This work was inspired by Islamic Architecture. The teapot was hand-built and can be separate from the table. The form of the table was constructed using cardboard and clay. The patterns on both forms were created by the overlapping of geometric's shapes- a technique that was used in Ancient Islamic Art. A variety of media were used to paint both forms and also to unite them together.
